The Why
Zealandia is a world-leading ecosanctuary dedicated to restoring native wildlife to Wellington. Every year, they share their progress through reports and, more recently, through highly visible public touchpoints like their new electric shuttle fleet.
For their 2025 Annual Report and Impact Report, Zealandia wanted designs that felt fresh and aligned with their updated brand identity, recently refreshed by Springload. The reports needed to communicate impact in a way that was clear, engaging, and celebratory of the work achieved over the financial year.
At the same time, Zealandia’s new electric shuttles called for a bold design that would showcase their brand on the streets of Wellington — something timeless, distinctive, and instantly connected to the sanctuary.
The How
For the reports, I worked closely with the client to translate content into a strong visual narrative. The Annual Report highlighted milestones and achievements, while the Impact Report leaned into storytelling — with full-page infographics, striking photography, and case studies that captured the tangible effects of Zealandia’s conservation work. The layouts balanced professionalism with creativity, ensuring information was easy to navigate while still evoking a sense of pride and inspiration.
Alongside the reports, I developed the graphic design for Zealandia’s brand-new electric shuttles. Taking inspiration from the sanctuary’s lush valley, I built layered foliage patterns that wrap around the vehicle, creating a sense of depth and movement. From within the forest, a vibrant kākā bursts into flight — a powerful visual symbol of Zealandia’s success in bringing native wildlife back into the city.
To future-proof the design, the rear of each shuttle includes a flexible sponsor panel, allowing logos to be added or updated over time without disrupting the overall aesthetic.

The Wow
The reports gave Zealandia a fresh and engaging way to share their progress with stakeholders, supporters, and the wider community, reinforcing trust and excitement about their mission.
On the streets of Wellington, the electric shuttles have become moving billboards for Zealandia, turning heads with their bold design and storytelling power. They communicate both the sanctuary’s identity and its wider impact — making conservation visible in everyday city life.
The combination of reports and shuttle graphics shows how thoughtful design can extend a brand across touchpoints, from detailed documents to public spaces, and bring an organisation’s vision to life in ways that resonate widely.
